Speed limits vary by province and type of road, but in Québec, where Motnral lies, applies these speed limits:
Urban areas: 50 km/h (31 mph)
Residential zones: 30 km/h (18 mph) in many areas
Highways: 100-120 km/h (62-75 mph)
In Canada, turning right at a red light is typically allowed unless otherwise indicated. However, this rule does not apply on the Island of Montreal, where right turns on red are generally prohibited, except where signs specifically permit it. At intersections, obey any signs that expressly prohibit right turns on red.
The legal BAC limit is 0.08%, with zero tolerance for young drivers (under 22 years old) and new drivers. Driving under the influence of drugs is also prohibited.
Mandatory for all passengers. Children must use appropriate car seats or booster seats for their age, weight, and height.
